Weed Society of Victoria Inc. 6th Biennial Weed Conference

"Celebrating 50 Yearsof Invasive Species Management in Victoria – Our Past, Present and Future" RACV

Goldfields, Creswick; 7th-9th June, 2016 

The conference is dedicated to the 50th birthday celebrations of the society. The conference theme is past, present and future – history of invasive speciesmanagement in Victoria, current work, and applying lessons of the past to planfor the future.

Acknowledging that many stakeholders also work with invasive animals, speakers are invited to discuss issues, experiences and knowledge on invasive plant and/or animal science and management.

Weed Society of Victoria conferences and seminars attract a wide range of attendees,including land managers, scientists, community and volunteergroupss, management officers and advisors, government,contractors and all people with an interest in invasive species. 

Conference Program

The three day conference program includes:

  • Pre conference canapes and drinks
  • Two days of presentations including three key note speakers
  • One day feild trip
  • Conference dinner
  • WSV annual Geeneral Meeting
  • Poster session

Presentations will be divided into sessions covering topics such as: 

  • Innovations in technical and operational invasive species management techniques 
  • Application of new and existing technologies 
  • Developments in strategic invasive species management
  • Managing the conservation impacts of invasive species  
  • Treatment methodologies to manage invasive species 
  • Advancements and applications of Biocontrol
